The Judicial Authentication Center entrusted by the People's Procuratorate of a city carried out document inspection and authentication of the involved Loan Contract in a contract fraud case with an involved amount of more than 20 million yuan. The core dispute focus of the case was whether the handwritten signature at the end of the contract was added and altered later. Since the suspect used the same type of ink as the original contract for addition, traditional inspection methods could not effectively distinguish it. The judicial appraiser used this 75W Xenon Lamp 13-Band Multi-Functional Investigation Light Source to inspect the signature at the end of the contract by switching between 490nm, 530nm, 590nm and other different band light sources in turn. Through the absorption difference of different inks to specific band light, it was successfully found that the spectral characteristics of the ink at the signature were significantly different from those of the contract text ink, and the signature strokes had traces covering the printed text of the text. At the same time, using side light combined with the 555nm band, the scraping traces on the paper surface at the signature were developed. Finally, the judicial appraiser issued the judicial authentication opinion that "the signature at the end of the contract was added and altered later", which was fully adopted by the court, providing a key scientific basis for the fair trial of the case and successfully recovering huge economic losses for the victim enterprise.
