  1. The Criminal Technology Detachment of the Municipal Public Security Bureau received an alarm that a burglary and homicide case occurred in the jurisdiction. The central scene was located in a room on the 28th floor of a high-rise residential building. There were 3 bullet holes on the high wall of the scene, a large range of blood splatter traces on the ceiling and the ground, the corpse was located in the center of the room, and key physical evidence such as crime knives and cartridge cases were left on the scene.     The criminal technicians used this Portable Laser Rangefinder, through non-contact laser aiming measurement, without touching any physical evidence on the scene, quickly and accurately obtained the linear distance between the corpse and the doors and windows, the remaining position of the crime tool, the height of the 3 bullet holes on the wall, the mutual spacing, the horizontal and vertical distance from the suspected shooting position on the ground, the area of the blood splatter range and the farthest splatter distance, the spacing of the footprint distribution on the scene and other core spatial data. The whole process measurement accuracy was stable at ±1.5 mm, and the measurement data could be directly connected to the scene drawing software.
     
    Based on the accurate measurement data, the technicians completed the drawing of the scene scale map within 1 hour, and at the same time completed the preliminary analysis of the shooting ballistic through the spatial data of the bullet hole points, restored the suspect's crime process and action sequence, and provided key spatial data support for the delineation of the case investigation direction and the portrayal of the suspect. Finally, the measurement data of this case was included in the case file as the core scene investigation material, and was fully accepted by the People's Court in the subsequent criminal proceedings, becoming an important objective evidence for the conviction and sentencing of the case.
     
  2. The SWAT Detachment of the Municipal Public Security Bureau received a police situation that a knife hostage-taking emergency occurred in a street-facing shop in the jurisdiction. The suspect hijacked the hostage in a closed room on the second floor of the shop, locked the door back, was emotionally excited, and the scene was critical, requiring a rapid scientific assault disposal plan. Because the scene was located in a busy street area, close reconnaissance was not possible.
